A hype project of grand proportions, this involved a reimagining of the Fantasy sub brand of URC. The crown in particular was given special motion treatment, including several animations to establish its identity and importance. The visual direction we settled on was dark retro combined with restless energy. This informed the intensity of the animation, most elements using some form of the wiggle expression and motion blur to echo the contact nature of rugby.

The motion tracking segment of this project was particularly challenging as the footage provided was interlaced and compressed. The bulk of this involved Mocha and Corner Pin applied to precomps, manually drawing the path being taken by the player (Libbok). Fast motion coupled with blocky compression artefacts required trial and error to achieve convincing results. I'm proud of the results, it looks effortlessly tracked, masking the effort that went into it - that's the goal.
